Cooper Update

It has been so long since I have been blogging regularly. And with all the time that has past we have had so many stories to tell. So to save time by not going back through to post about everything, I wanted to journal some of the recent funny memories I have about Cooper on here with some of his pictures.

Cooper said his first prayer on his own (without being asked) in February. He thanked heavenly father for his daddy coming home & thanked him for his day. This week he has even started to pray for the things he got to do with his family "thank you for going to the train station". -I have to say this was one of the most rewarding things to here and see him do!

Cooper can count to 15 and backwards from 10!

Cooper loves to go to Nursery. He has even woohoo'd when sacrament was over because he knew that meant that he got to go to Nursery next. Thinking of sacrament time, a couple weeks ago when sacrament was being passed Cooper decided to stand up and ask Taylor Ramsdell (the ym passing the bread) "Hey, what are you doing?!" Ha, I have no idea how Taylor didn't start laughing.

Cooper loves being a big brother! Its so neat to see how much they both LOVE each other. They are already trying to play with each other. Tyke has had to come to earth with some kind of invisible protective gear with all that Coop tries to do with him.-Aside from Cooper trying to pick up and carry Tyke when we are not looking, he has made tyke be a "baby saurus" (dinosaur) and he has also sat on him and said that Tyke was a pony. Cooper is quite a little helper. He tries to let me know what he thinks the baby needs...and he is most often pretty willing to go and get the things I need for the baby.

Cooper loves to read books before bed! I have found the best books at the DI for only 50 cents! (A mom can only read the same book over and over again with out going crazy.) If it is a very long book Cooper will take over half way and finish the book for me. :)

One day when Lathan was gone to work the kids and I were sitting down stairs watching TV. I decided to get up and start making dinner so I turned off the TV and headed up to the kitchen. Cooper followed behind me which left the baby in his swing with nothing to entertain him. So not to much time went by before he started to fuss. I asked Cooper to go down and give the baby his binkie or play with him so that Tyke wouldn't cry. Well, Cooper went downstairs and put the baby's binkie in his mouth and got him to stop crying. Cooper got to about the 2nd step on our stairs and the baby started crying again. Cooper kept repeating his routine of keeping the baby happy and by about the 4th time of getting the second step on the stairs and hearing the baby start fussing again Cooper mumbled under his breath, "Ugh this is bull sh*t" HA HA HA. Not necessarily a proud thing that he has learned to swear and use them properly, but it was definately a funny moment that I will remember!

Time outs have finally started to work around our house. What a blessing!! Often when I tell Cooper something important that I want him to understand I say to him, "Do you got it Cooper?" Well, the other day in time out after a minute of non stop crying in the corner Cooper shuts it off and starts yelling, "I got it Mom! Mommy, I got it!" Ha, what a funny boy. Another funny story was the day I started to realize how much Cooper was soaking in the things you go into time out for. We were all driving in the car to Ogden and Lathan said something sarcastic to me so I slugged his arm being silly and Cooper started to scold me. He said, "No no Mommy, we don't hit Daddy. You have to go in time out!"

Cooper is very observant! He is picking up on everything! For a long time now he has been able to find our cars in the parking lot. And now he is becoming a back seat driver! He will literally tell me where to turn and when I need to stop.-Especially at RR tracks! He knows how to get to his grandparents houses and the flower shop. He will squeal in the back seat if he thinks I am turning in front of a car that is about to hit us. Lathan has even taught him to say buckle up for safety! When he puts his seat belt on. One time when I was driving and my Mom had to turn around to fix the baby's bottle Cooper said "Crazy Grandma!"

Cooper is pretty tech savvy already! He has figured out how to use the mouse on our computer.-To start his truck pulling videos over again that he watches on You Tube. And he knows how to operate my new Evo.-He can turn it on and get in to different games to play and he loves to call Lacy & Grandma on the phone all of the time. He is also a little DVR spoiled...the kid HATES watching commercials. Wow.

I asked Cooper the other day, "What do you want to be when you grow up? Do you want to be a Vet?, A baseball player?" He said, "No! I'm going to work on the trains!" ha ha ha. He already wants to be so much like his dad. One of the times Lathan had came home from being gone for a week the first words that came out of Cooper's mouth was, "Wait Dad wait, I will go to work with you. I just need to grab my choo choo trains." Another time Lathan had left for work and called us on the phone to tell us he had gotten there, Cooper got on the phone and started to give him instructions on how to do his job. :)

The other day after coming out of the bathroom from getting ready for the day Cooper said, "That's better Mom!"

Two fast Sundays ago, Cooper tried talking me in to baring my testimony. (Or maybe letting him bare his.) Which was pretty interesting seeing how we sit in the 3rd row! After watching everyone else go up and then having a minute of silence when nobody had gotten up, He kept tugging at my arm saying "Come on mom, TRY it!!"

When Cooper is really happy he will just randomly tells us "Merry Christmas!"

One of my highlights of the day is when Cooper says, "Thanks mom, your the best!"

One of the nights at a Young Women's Activity we were practicing a song to sing in sacrament meeting. Cooper was getting more than ready to go home for the night. So I gave him a hymn book to sit down and sing with us. In front of the hymn book was a picture of Jesus. Cooper fell in love. He kept hugging the book and saying, "My Jesus, I love Jesus." We ended up having to steal the hymn book that night because would not leave the church with out his Jesus.

Cooper loves to perform with his guitar, keyboard, drums & microphone. He makes up his own songs or ones that he has learned from nursery. At the end of playing his music and singing he takes a bow and says, "Thank you, Thank you very much!"

Cooper loves all kinds of things with motors and wheels! He LOVES trains, tractors, fire trucks, school buses, monster trucks and so many more! He has the truck pulling sounds down better than any of us! It is so neat to watch him play truck pulls with his matchbox cars. He hooks them up to the sled and pulls them out of the arena, everything down to every little detail. And of course he always picks one of them to be the blazer. I think Lathan must have trained Cooper to tell me that the Blazer is "broken". So that he can get it fixed faster. :)

He loves getting praised for things he does. This has been a big help when it has came to potty training him. He gets really excited when we show how proud of him we are. He is getting better and better every day at filling up his sticker charts for going potty!

One of the down falls living near McDonald's & Wendy's is that Cooper is always trying to talk us into going to get "Chicken Fries". I have even caught him using his imagination with his matchbox cars playing drive thru. Saying, "Yes Hi, I would like chicken and fries. -Pause (I think this is where they ask him what he wants to drink.)- A Coke. Thank you." Cooper is pretty spoiled and we give in often, Grandma & Polka will even stop by some times to surprise Cooper with breakfast or lunch, even better!!

With Cooper feeling tied up in the house all winter he has been getting Spring Fever. He keeps asking if we can go outside and play baseball or if we can go for a walk.
