I guess Mom's don't always know whats best. :( Later Thursday night we were all hanging out downstairs in the family room. After many attempts of asking Cooper not to jump off of the recliner I asked Lathan to put the foot rest down so that we could stop arguing with him about it. Welp, as Cooper was climbing up onto the foot rest...it was being put down and some where between the force of the recliner popping forward from the foot rest going in plus the way he landed...Cooper's tibia bone broke. So much for trying to "avoid getting hurt".
So next came Cooper's 4th visit to the emergency room in his little 2 yr old lifetime.
After a VERY LONG and painful night (3 hrs of sleep that started at 5 am, plus waking up to throwing up from the medicine), the next day he was taken to get a cast put on his leg. He got it casted in bright green like Buzz Lightyear! (For Cooper it was another traumatizing experience to have his leg casted. He was very upset with the doctor over how much pain he was in.)
We pulled Cooper's toddler bed into our bedroom to give him a new view and safe place to sleep where we could keep an eye on him. You wouldn't believe how happy it made him to be able to get off the couch and see the upstairs again.
Cooper has been asking to hold Tyke a lot lately and he gives him lots of love! What a good big brother!
The cast has been working wonders! We have been able to move him around a lot more now. He was so happy to be able to sit up and play with his toys on the ground.
Sunday night one of the sweet girls in my young women's brought Cooper a coloring book that she had put together and some treats. He felt pretty special.------
I'm not to sure that Cooper really learned a lesson in listening to his parents or even in not jumping off things. Because I bet he will go right back to doing it once his cast is off...which is ok with me! I think I was the one who had to learn the lesson...in not sweating the small stuff. I miss having him follow us around the house, "helping" do the dishes, banging on the bathroom door asking "what are you doing in there?", watering my flowers, potty training, making messes every where to clean up after him, going on walks, watching him do his singing & dancing performances on the couches and kitchen chairs, and just being good ol' Cooper!
------
What an afternoon with Poka can do....
Today Dewey came over to let me run some errands and play with the boys for an hour. When I came back I found Cooper scooting around on his bum to get to some of his things! I am so pleased to see him being able to be more and more active every day!
